Frontend Developer cover letter example
A cover letter for a frontend developer with five years of experience. It connects measured performance and accessibility work to the situation the company’s users are in.
Opens in the editor with this letter. Change the company, the recipient and the paragraphs. No sign-up needed.
Why this letter works
Written for the product’s users
It names the real conditions of the company’s app (phones, weak connections) and ties his strengths to them.
Numbers a frontend lead can picture
Load time, Lighthouse score and WCAG level are concrete and easy to discuss in an interview.
Builds for teams, too
The shared component library shows impact beyond his own tickets.
Paragraph by paragraph
What each paragraph does in the letter, with a short tip for that part.
Opening
I am applying for the Frontend Developer position at Kranich Mobility. I build fast, accessible React and TypeScript interfaces, and for the past three years I have done it for a logistics dashboard that customers use every day.
Name the role and say in one or two sentences why you are a strong match. Skip "I am writing to apply for…": the reader already knows.
Why this company
Your booking app is used by people in a hurry, often on a phone with a weak connection. That is exactly where performance and accessibility stop being nice to have, and it is the part of frontend work I care about most.
Show you know who you are writing to: a product, a project, a value or a recent step of theirs, and why it matters to you. One specific detail beats three general compliments.
Evidence
At Parcelwise I:
- rebuilt the customer dashboard in React and TypeScript, cutting load time by 45% and related support tickets by 20%
- raised the Lighthouse performance score from 52 to 94
- brought 40 pages up to WCAG 2.1 AA, which opened the product to public-sector clients
Pick one or two achievements that match the ad and tell them briefly: the situation, what you did and the result. Do not repeat your whole resume.
Evidence
I also started a shared library of more than 60 components that five product teams now use, so I am used to building for other developers as well as for users.
Closing
I would welcome the chance to show you some of this work in a call. Thank you for considering my application.
Thank the reader, say you would welcome an interview and mention when you are available. Keep it short and confident; no need to apologise or beg.
Tips for frontend developer cover letters
- If you have a live project or a short case study, link it; frontend hiring managers often click before they finish reading.
- Skip the list of every framework you have tried. Name the stack in the posting and show what you did with it.
