Terms of service

These terms apply to your use of AlderCV (the "Service"), operated by AlderCV ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

AlderCV is an online tool for writing, designing and downloading resumes as PDF files. Some features are free; others require a paid plan described on our pricing page.

2. Accounts and guest use

• You can start without an account. We then create a temporary guest session so your work is saved. A guest session lasts at most 24 hours and ends when you close the browser; guest data that is not linked to an account is deleted within 2 days.
• To download PDFs you need an account. You must give accurate information and keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity in your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age required in your country, to create an account.

3. Your content

Your resumes, photos and other content remain yours. You give us a limited license to store, process and display your content only to provide the Service to you (for example to render previews and create PDFs). We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models.

You are responsible for your content. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringes the rights of others or contains other people's personal data without permission (for example references who have not agreed to be listed).

4. Plans, payments and renewals

• Free plan: includes one resume, every template and unlimited PDF downloads without a watermark.
• 30-day pass: a one-time payment that gives you Pro features for 30 days. It does not renew.
• Pro subscription: billed monthly or yearly and renews automatically until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; access continues until the end of the paid period.
• Invites: when someone creates a new account through your invite link, confirms their email address and downloads their first PDF, you both get 14 days of Pro, added after any Pro you already have. Invited people always get their days; you can earn days for up to 10 people in any 12 months. Pro days from invites have no cash value and cannot be transferred. Accounts made only to collect days, or with someone else's details, do not count, and we may remove days gained that way.

Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Polar (Polar Software Inc.). Polar is the Merchant of Record for all our orders: you buy paid plans from Polar, which charges your payment and calculates, collects and remits the applicable sales tax or VAT. Polar handles questions about payments and orders; we handle questions about using AlderCV. Refunds are processed through Polar (see section 5). Prices shown on our site may differ from the final price at checkout, because applicable taxes are calculated there based on where you are.

When a paid plan ends, nothing is deleted. If you have more resumes than the free plan allows, the extra resumes are locked (visible but not editable or downloadable) until you upgrade again, and you can choose which resume stays active.

6. Acceptable use

Do not misuse the Service: no attempts to break or overload it, no automated account creation, no scraping, no reverse engineering beyond what the law allows, and no use of the Service to create fraudulent documents.

7. Availability and changes

We work hard to keep AlderCV available and your data safe (automatic saving, a 30-day trash bin and daily versions for 14 days), but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change or discontinue features. If we make material changes to these terms we will notify you in advance by email or in the app.

8. Termination

You can delete your account at any time in your account settings. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously breach these terms. Where possible we will warn you first and let you export your data.

9. Liability

AlderCV helps you present your experience but cannot guarantee interviews or job offers, or that a specific employer's software will read your resume in a certain way. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
