Why this resume works

  1. Research and results together

Interviews and usability studies lead to measurable changes such as onboarding completion and checkout conversion.

  2. Restrained layout

A designer resume is judged on its layout too. This one uses one accent colour, a clear hierarchy and no decorative graphics.

  3. Portfolio link up front

The website sits in the header, where reviewers look for it first.

Example UX/UI designer bullet points

Use them as a starting point and replace the numbers with your own results. Never add a number you could not explain in an interview.

  • Built a Figma design system with 120+ components, cutting design-to-development time by 30%
  • Ran 40 user interviews and 6 usability studies that shaped the roadmap for a new mobile app
  • Simplified checkout from 5 steps to 3, increasing mobile conversion by 17%
  • Created wireframes, prototypes and final UI for 3 product launches used by 200,000+ people
  • Brought the product up to WCAG 2.1 AA, improving color contrast, focus states and screen reader labels

Tips, section by section

Profile
Two or three sentences: who you are, what you are strongest at and what you are looking for. For example:
Product designer with 5+ years of experience creating intuitive web and mobile experiences. Grounds every design in user research and testing, and works closely with product and engineering to ship work that improves key metrics.
Experience
Most recent job first. Two to four bullets per job, each starting with a verb and ending with a result where you can.
Skills
Match the keywords in the job ad with skills you actually use. Six to ten skills are usually enough.
Education
With experience, keep education short: degree, school and years.

Tips for UX/UI designer resumes

  • Write the result of the case study in the bullet ("from 58% to 81%") and leave the process for the portfolio.
  • Skill bars and percentages look designed but say nothing. A simple list of tools and methods is easier to scan.
