Michael’s cover letterWhy this resume works
Student outcomes first
Higher test scores and homework completion show what the teaching achieved, not just the subjects taught.
The school sees the whole teacher
The robotics team, mentoring student teachers and the curriculum review show contributions beyond the classroom.
Licensure is clear
The state certificate and subject area are listed, which schools check first.

Skills worth considering
Tips, section by section
- Profile
- Two or three sentences: who you are, what you are strongest at and what you are looking for. For example:
Math teacher with 6+ years in middle and high school. Raised average standardized test scores across five classes by 15% and coached the robotics team to a regional championship two years in a row.
- Experience
- Most recent job first. Two to four bullets per job, each starting with a verb and ending with a result where you can.
- Skills
- Match the keywords in the job ad with skills you actually use. Six to ten skills are usually enough.
- Education
- With experience, keep education short: degree, school and years.
Tips for math teacher resumes
- Say which grades and subjects you are certified for. It is often the first filter.
- Keep the classroom numbers honest and approximate if you have to. A range ("about 15%") is better than a precise figure you cannot back up.
